Il Guggenheim Abu Dhabi sorgerà su Saadiyat Island, un’isola naturale situata appena al largo della costa di Abu Dhabi e collegata alla città da ponti. È proprio lì che si trova il grande Saadiyat Cultural District, dove sono già presenti il Louvre Abu Dhabi e dove sorgeranno (o stanno aprendo) anche il Zayed National Museum, il Natural History Museum e altre importanti istituzioni culturali.
Conosco bene il Guggenheim di Bilbao, un museo che mi ha profondamente colpita. Sarà interessante vedere come la nuova sede di Abu Dhabi interpreterà questa straordinaria eredità culturale.

Abu Dhabi continues to invest in culture. Following the success of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the highly anticipated Guggenheim museum in Abu Dhabi will officially open on December 11, marking another milestone in the city’s cultural vision.
Designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, the museum will be dedicated to modern and contemporary art, with the aim of fostering dialogue between cultures and artists from around the world.
The opening of the Guggenheim represents a new chapter in the development of the Saadiyat Cultural District, which is set to become one of the world’s leading destinations for art and culture.
The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is located on Saadiyat Island, a natural island just off the coast of Abu Dhabi, connected to the city by a network of bridges. It is here that the Saadiyat Cultural District is taking shape, already home to the Louvre Abu Dhabi and soon to include the Zayed National Museum, the Natural History Museum, and several other major cultural institutions.
Having experienced the Guggenheim Bilbao firsthand, I was deeply impressed by its architecture and vision. It will be fascinating to discover how the new Guggenheim Abu Dhabi reinterprets this extraordinary cultural legacy.
